FAQs
Can I share a booth with others?
Portal VR booths hold one person at a time. You are not able to split time in our booths between 2 or more people. Each player will rent their own booth for the duration of their visit. Alternatively, 2 people could rent the same booth one after the other.
What is the minimum age requirement for VR?
8 years old for VR Booth rentals. 10 years old for group parties.
What are the options for parties during Covid-19?
We are currently able to accommodate parties at Portal VR. No proof of vaccination is required and guests may choose whether or not to wear a face mask.
We also must limit sharing of VR Booths. If, during your party, you’d like to split the time in a booth between 2 players, they must play in consecutive time slots and cannot switch back and forth.
How does Portal sanitize the VR equipment?
After each use, we sanitize the controllers and headset with 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes. A Portal guide will take out the inner headset pad to wash/rinse with oxi-clean and then, dry with dryel. Portal customers are also complemented with a fresh and clean pad every single visit.
How do customers experience VR at Portal?
Once a customer has filled out a waiver and paid for their time in the booth the followings steps happen:
A Portal guide will assist the customer by putting on the VR headset and 2 controllers.
Once set up, the Portal guide will start a short (4-5min) tutorial in VR which will teach you the buttons on the controller, the boundaries of the booth, and how to navigate your game menu.
After the tutorial, the customer will have full control to select as many games/experiences in the booth as they want within the time they paid for.
When you finish your time, a Portal guide will come to assist you by taking the VR equipment off.
How do you play multiplayer with others?
Every player must rent their own individual booth. However, once each player is in their own booths with a multiplayer game uploaded, a Portal staff member will help one person create a game and have the others join the session. There is also an option to make your games private so players online cannot join.
Example: If you have 3 people wanting to play multiplayer, you need to rent 3 separate booths at the same time.
Remember, certain multiplayer games have a maximum number of players allowed.
Example: A Multiplayer game called Elven Assassin has a maximum of 4 players. That means 4 players or less can play together in the game.
Make sure you pick a multiplayer game that is downloaded in your booth before you book online!

Things to know at Portal:
Eyeglasses
Only some glasses can fit inside the VR headset. We recommend you wear contact lenses if possible.
Apparel
Wear comfortable/breathable clothes and shoes that you can move around in easily. VR is more active than you think!
Makeup/facepaint – are not the best for VR as they can rub off inside the headset.
Hats — recommended to not wear anything on top of your head to ensure the headset will fit properly and be more comfortable.
Hair styles — best to wear your hair down or in a low ponytail. We like the headset to fit on your head as comfortable as possible.
